Big Chair Chess Club, we believe every move matters — in chess and in life.
That’s why our school programs are designed to do more than teach the game. We help students slow down, think ahead, and build the confidence to make intentional choices in and out of the classroom.
Through our Think B4U Move Curriculum, we’ve built an ecosystem of growth across Prince George’s County — from elementary to high school — where students learn focus, teamwork, creativity, and purpose. Our approach blends chess strategy with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), STEAM activities, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles to strengthen both minds and hearts.
Each program becomes a space where students discover their own rhythm — learning that every move has a consequence, every choice holds power, and every child has the potential to lead.

Templeton’s program integrates chess with CBT-informed reflection to help learners develop self-awareness and resilience. Each session invites students to pause, plan, and think before they move — fostering leadership, empathy, and strategic problem-solving through creative play and logic.

At Beacon Heights, Think B4U Move transforms chess into a mirror for life decisions. Guided by SEL and Bloom’s Taxonomy, students explore focus, patience, and perseverance — building emotional intelligence, confidence, and curiosity that extend far beyond the classroom.

At Dodge Park, chess becomes a tool for academic growth and personal reflection. Rooted in SEL and STEAM principles, students learn to analyze, adapt, and communicate effectively — gaining skills that promote focus, teamwork, and forward-thinking in every area of learning

William Wirt’s Think B4U Move initiative combines chess instruction with hands-on drone-based STEM learning. This innovative fusion of strategy and technology deepens critical-thinking skills and creativity, showing students how logic and imagination work together to solve real-world challenges.

Laurel High’s program merges chess strategy with career readiness and workforce development. Students learn to approach life like a chess game — building their opening, middle, and endgame plans through higher-order thinking, goal-setting, and reflection rooted in Bloom’s Taxonomy and SEL growth.
